Mr. Rashid Cassam

Birthday: July 6, 1970
Occupation: Wood Carver

Mr Rashid is a great wood a carver, starting his craft at the age of 18. Before carving, he was selling clothes after dropping out of 8th grade to be able to help his family with expenses. However, when that didn’t pan out as he hoped, he followed in his Uncle’s footsteps and started carving. Even though he likes carving, he still finds it hard to find buyers and sell what he needs to be able to get his kids through school and provide for everyone.

Mr. Matress Mitengo

Birthday: June 15, 1970
Occupation: Wood Carver

Mr. Mattress is another one of our great carvers on the team. He has been carving ever since his uncle started teaching him when he was 15 years old. His family was having troubles paying the school fees, so he dropped out and began mastering the art of wood carving to be able to make money and support his family. His biggest struggle is making sure he makes enough money from wood carvings to be able to feed him and his four children, as well as sending his kids to school. His biggest dream is to be able to have his own house for him and his family.

Mr. White Sun

Birthday: April 23, 1975
Occupation: Wood Carver

Mr. White is one of our three amazing carvers. He has been carving since the age of 16 to be able to make a living for himself and his family. He dropped out of school much earlier in his life, not getting past elementary due to his family not being able to pay the school bills.Although he loves carving, he still finds it difficult to provide every month for his family because prices are constantly rising and all around people are struggling; making it even harder for him to sell his work. He has seven kids in total and his biggest dream is to one day be able to build a house for his family.
